October 2018 – A flying visit to the Island to meet a specialist in damp, dry rot and old buildings. I am optimistic that the old girl doesn’t hold too many surprises, although one survey has already resulted in the surveyor advising to stay away, don’t buy as the problems are too great and a sum of 250k is easily needed to revive the church!! Undeterred, I go ahead and seek out another specialist report, and making an offer for the church is getting closer. The specialist confirms, substantial dry rot to the kitchen, hallway between the hall and the church that has already spread into both buildings, this will need to be tackled as a priority, along with securing the roof tiles and guttering to ensure the building is dry and no further damage.
