Visit 10, There is finally a plan !!

Since collecting the keys in January 2020, a few jobs have been tackled and completed –

  • Getting the boiler up and running (1 sadly died, but at least one of them is working and will heat the church no problem)
  • Cleaning, plastering and painting in the main church area
  • Moving the ornate panel a metre forward at the front of the church
  • Removed the external and internal doors to be dipped in Glasgow
  • Undertaking an aerial roof survey and starting the roof, guttering and downspout repairs
  • Surveys of the building for dry rot, damp and woodworm
  • Pre-planning application submitted
  • Removal of lath and plaster in the church hall to expose the original stone work

Our next steps –

  • Complete roof works to ensure dry and no leaks
  • Clean off doors.. (as have been standing some time since being dipped) paint and hang all doors
  • Ensure new lintel in place for church hall kitchen doorway (the last one crumbled and fell apart_
  • Continue to strip walls in church hall and clear all church hall
  • Meet with architect (already spoken to an architect that has completed historic projects on the island)
  • Full costing and feasibility survey
  • Full Planning Application
